The Future Farmer Award celebrates grassroots excellence and farmer-led solutions across Asia. From precision agriculture to women-led cooperatives, it spotlights the people transforming food systems from the field up.

Hosted by DLG (the German Agricultural Society) as part of AGRITECHNICA ASIA and HortEx, the award brings international recognition, exchange, and visibility to farmers whose work too often goes unseen.

The Future Farmer Award Categories

Farmers from across Asia are welcome to apply directly or be nominated by institutions, cooperatives, NGOs, or extension services, with participation free of charge.

CRITERIA

The Future Farmer Award was established to recognize exceptional farmers who are shaping the future of agriculture through innovation, impact, sustainability, scalability, and leadership.

Winners are selected based on five core criteria that reflect not only their farming achievements, but also their contribution to stronger, more resilient, and future-ready farming communities.

Innovation

Creative problem-solving and the use of new tools, techniques, or farming approaches.

Impact

Measurable improvements in productivity, income, livelihoods, and benefits to the local community.

Scalability

The potential for their methods to be replicated by other farmers across the region in a practical and cost-effective way.

Leadership and Advocacy

Their role as mentors, role models, and advocates for collective action within the farming community.

Sustainability

Commitment to responsible resource use, environmental management, and regenerative farming practices.
